What your EQTiger communication score means
EQTiger’s Relationship Communication dimension concerns expressing needs and listening in ways that support trust. It does not measure eloquence, popularity, or whether everyone agrees with you. Use the score to examine how clearly an interaction leaves both people understanding the next step.

Communication includes both sending and checking
A clear message states what you mean, while a useful exchange also checks what the other person understood. You may think you made a request when you only hinted at a preference. You may think you listened when you answered before hearing the whole concern. This dimension provides a place to examine both directions of the conversation without assuming that speaking smoothly is the same as communicating well.
Its descriptive score combines scenario judgments and habit self-report within EQTiger. It does not observe every relationship or establish that a particular person experiences you as trustworthy. A result needs examples. Ask whether recent agreements were explicit, whether concerns could be raised, and whether the later actions matched what was discussed.
Make room for a different answer
A request is clearer when the other person can understand it and respond honestly. That response may be no or a proposed alternative. Emotional communication does not require finding wording that makes refusal impossible. If your goal is agreement, explain the relevant constraints and listen for theirs. If your goal is a boundary, state your participation and the action you control.
A higher result should not become a reason to dismiss feedback that your message was unclear. A lower result should not make you distrust every conversation. Identify one pattern that fits the available evidence. Perhaps requests need timing, or perhaps you summarize the practical issue while overlooking the feeling attached to it. Different patterns call for different practice.
Example: replacing a hint with an agreement
Imagine repeatedly saying that evenings feel busy while hoping a housemate will take on a task. A clearer message identifies the task, explains when it needs doing, and asks whether they can take responsibility for it. They may have a conflicting commitment. The conversation can then address the actual division of work rather than relying on whether they correctly inferred the request hidden inside your frustration.
Try ending the exchange with a short summary of who will do what and when. Ask whether the summary matches their understanding. This is an original practice suggestion, not a script that guarantees cooperation. If the agreement repeatedly fails, the next issue may be follow-through rather than wording. Clear communication helps identify that distinction; it cannot make every commitment happen by itself.
Use the components as questions
A judgment-versus-habits difference may invite reflection on knowing what a constructive exchange looks like versus reporting that you use those actions. It does not identify dishonesty or a universal communication style. Check completion and remember that an unscored dimension indicates missing information rather than a zero result.

Review the result in the real exchange, including whether the other person could correct your understanding. The useful outcome is an agreement or conversation that requires less guessing from both people.
