What your EQTiger conflict score means

EQTiger’s Conflict Navigation dimension concerns working through disagreement without unnecessary damage. It does not reward winning every argument or avoiding every difficult topic. Use the score to reflect on how you raise issues, hear another view, and follow through on repair.

Disagreement is not automatically a failure

Two people can understand each other and still want different outcomes. Conflict navigation concerns how the disagreement is handled: whether the issue is clear, whether each person can contribute, and whether a practical next step is possible. Quietness alone does not establish success. A conversation that ends without addressing the decision may leave the same problem waiting for the next encounter.

The dimension summarizes relevant EQTiger scenario and habit responses. Its descriptive value does not decide which person was right in your last argument or whether a particular request was fair. Those questions need the facts and context of the actual disagreement. Keep the result focused on your contribution to the process rather than using it as authority over another person's account.

Look at the opening and the return

How you raise an issue can determine what the other person understands you to be asking. Name a concrete event and a needed change before making broad claims about character. If the conversation becomes unproductive, a pause may be appropriate, but agree on how to return. An indefinite pause does not resolve a shared responsibility simply because the immediate tension is less visible.

Repair is another part of the pattern. If you insulted someone while making a valid point, you can apologize for the insult and still address the point. The presence of a legitimate concern does not remove responsibility for your conduct. Likewise, acknowledging a mistake does not mean accepting every accusation made during the exchange.

Example: dividing a shared responsibility

Imagine two people each believe the other agreed to arrange transportation. The immediate need is to decide who can handle it now. The later need is to clarify how future responsibilities are recorded. Addressing both is more useful than proving who remembers the original conversation correctly when no record exists. You can acknowledge frustration while moving toward an agreement that prevents the same ambiguity.

For practice, separate the next disagreement into the immediate decision, the information needed, and any repair required. Do not force a compromise before the real constraints are clear. Sometimes the appropriate result is a firm limit or a decision to stop participating. The exercise is a planning aid, not a requirement to preserve every arrangement at any cost.

Interpret bands without turning them into roles

A Strong conflict result does not make you the permanent mediator in every group. An Emerging result does not remove your right to raise a concern. Bands describe responses on this assessment, and insufficient completion can leave a dimension unscored. Neither the number nor the absence of one defines your entitlement to respect.

Use the assessment for adult self-reflection, with numeric results in the optional paid report and a profile plus strongest area available free. If you already have a report, choose one practical point of improvement: a clearer opening, a return plan, or a specific repair. Review whether it changed your conduct, while recognizing that a workable resolution may require participation from others too.
