This conflict conversation worksheet helps you prepare one issue, one request, and a plan to listen. It provides a blank paper alternative to the interactive conversation planner. It does not determine fault or require you to continue a conversation that feels unsafe.

Inside the PDF
Two pages, designed for Letter paper. Fit to A4 if needed.
- One issue I want to discuss:
- What happened, stated as an observation:
- The practical impact and my feelings:
- A request the other person can answer:
- What I want to understand from them:
- What I can adjust and what limit I need:
- A pause sentence and proposed return time:
- What we actually agreed, if anything:
- Who will do what, and when will we revisit it?
Who it is for
Adults preparing for an ordinary disagreement about shared plans, responsibilities, boundaries, or follow-through.
Write what is observable first
Choose a single event rather than the entire history of a relationship. “The equipment was left outside after the agreed return time” gives both people something concrete to discuss. Then name the practical impact and your own feeling without treating an interpretation as a fact.
Make a request that someone can answer. “Can we agree on where the equipment goes after use?” is clearer than “Be responsible.” Include what you are willing to adjust and what boundary you need to maintain.
Plan the return as well as the pause
Write a sentence for asking to pause and a possible time to return. A break does not settle the disagreement, and the other person may need to negotiate the timing. Put the unresolved decision in writing so you know what to revisit.
If there are threats, coercion, or fear, a joint conversation worksheet may not fit the situation. Prioritize safety and support. For a manageable conversation, print the two-page worksheet and keep the follow-up page for recording what was actually agreed.
